Narrative Description
Completed nearly 40 years - to the day - after riots decimated the neighborhood, DC USA is both the catalyst and the capstone to a $1 billion wave of investment along the 14th Street Corridor in Columbia Heights. The shopping and entertainment complex, which sits atop the Columbia Heights Metrorail Station, is a $140 million retail anchor that includes major national-brand stores such as Best Buy, Staples, Marshalls and Bed Bath and Beyond. The District's first Target Store opened at the center in Spring 2008.

The 500,00-square-foot project also housed neighborhoods-serving amenities including a Washington Sports Club and several restaurants. The District government built a 1,000-space parking garage beneath the project, which provides parking for residents and restaurant and retail patrons of establishments throughout the neighborhood.
